Juan was born in Venezuela. He grew up near the blue beautiful coastlines in the tropical surroundings of Maracay, where multi cultural influences
such as music, art and sports were a daily activity for him. Juan explored many activities but rapidly recognized his natural attributes and decided to lean towards the game of basketball.
At the age of 16 he started to play organized basketball for a youth club. Later that year he was selected for the State and Venezuelan national team. He was also recruited by several professional teams and played for them as well.
At the age of 18 he received a scholarship to enroll as a student athlete at Frank Phillips Community College in Borger Texas, where he obtained his AA. Later Juan transferred to Florida Gulf Coast University to finish his bachelor degree in Communication Studies and basketball career. Right after his graduation he became part of the coaching staff for Florida Gulf Coast University men's basketball team in 2005 and 2011.
He has experience as a Division I Assistant Basketball coach and directed sports camps for children ages 3 and up.
